What Age Should My Dog Be for Board and Train?

By Chad Singer, Canine Revolution Dog Training

Your puppy needs to have his vaccinations completed before he can start. For most puppies that lands somewhere around 16 to 17 weeks old, and that’s when he can officially begin the program. For adult dogs there’s no cutoff. Any age.

That doesn’t mean you wait around until week 16. Puppy training starts the day your puppy comes home, and what your puppy practices is what your puppy learns. Crate routine, potty schedule, engagement, handling, early leash work, all of that is happening whether you’re directing it or not. Get ahead of it and you hand us a puppy with a foundation instead of a puppy with habits to undo.

That matters, because the teenage phase kicks in around six to eight months.
